Re:        Standard Title Block for AutoCAD drawings

Layout Name Now On Title Block

We have added the Layout name to the title block. This should help users quickly locate what layout a drawing came from. This is the only change to the existing Title Block standard.

CAD Standards – Title Block Standards

To maintain consistency, please follow the following guidelines for title block formats.

Date:

The date format is Month-DD-YYYY

e.g. April 30, 2003

Revisions:

The revisions format is Month-DD-YYYY

e.g. April 30, 2003

CAD File:

This will be the AutoCAD drawing file name. Naming procedures will be covered in a separate document.

e.g. landscape.dwg

Layout:

This will be the name of the layout in the AutoCAD drawing.

e.g. Siteplan

Sheet No.:

This is the sequential number of the drawings typically for planning board use. The individual sheet number is assigned as the drawing is created and the total number of sheets is filled in just prior to submission.

Drawing No.:

This is the physical drawing number. This number MUST be unique. It is a four-part number consisting of:

Drawing Sheet Size – Year  – Job No. - Sequential No.

Drawing Sheet Size:

A – 30”x 42”, B – 22”x 34” or 24”x 36”, C – 17”x 22”, D - 11”x 17”, E - 8½”x 14”, F - 8½”x 11”, R – 34”x 44” (or Roll File)

Year:

Last two digits of the year.

Job No.:

Four digit Job Number. This number is a sequential number starting with 0001 each year. Maintain all four places with leading zeros as required.

Sequential No.:

This is the next available number drawing in a project. Two digits shall be used. Maintain two places with a leading zero as required. Currently, this number is derived by identifying what the last number used was. We will be implementing a way of automatically assigning drawing numbers or at the very least, maintain a log record.

This document supercedes “Cad Standards – Title Block Standards” dated May 2, 2001.
